Michael Hawthorne

Get ready for a weekend of thrilling rides, delicious foods, live music, and lots of family-friendly entertainment as the Southern Mail Wynberg Family Festival returns to Maynardville Park on Friday, March 1, 2024.

The festival, a popular Cape Town tradition, features a stellar lineup of local artists, including Jarrad Ricketts, Amy Jones, Mark Haze, Sons of Salessie, Berry Trytsman, and DJ Ashton Parenzee. Enjoy classic amusement park rides like the scrambler, carousel, bumper cars, and the Ferris wheel.

The City of Cape Town reaffirmed its commitment to the festival, with Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, expressing support: “This represents our commitment to supporting local events, specifically those that contribute to the economy in communities across the city… we believe our support over the next three years will contribute to the event organisers’ ambitions to increase attendance numbers to 25 000.”

With over 100 stalls offering delicious foods, fashion, and crafts, there’s something for everyone. Ticket prices are R80, with a discounted rate of R60 for pensioners and children under 13.

The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services and Metro Police will showcase their capabilities with exhibitions at the festival. The event also gives back to the community, sponsoring Heinz Park Primary School’s prom and supporting the Strive Autism Learning Centre.

Join the fun this Friday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Gates open at 11:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit eventsincapetown.com.
