The City of Cape Town is set to immerse itself in a vibrant celebration of the arts and culture as it partners with the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, the largest art fair on the African continent. From February 16 to 18, 2024, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will be transformed into a hub of creativity, hosting over 375 artists from four continents and more than 100 leading galleries.

Themed “Unbound,” the 11th edition of the Investec Cape Town Art Fair aims to amplify emerging, diverse voices as catalysts for new possibilities in the artistic realm. The event will feature 24 activities across various venues over three days, including high-quality exhibitions, discussions, awards, and tours exploring Cape Town’s rich art and culture.

Alderman JP Smith, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, expressed the city’s commitment to providing platforms that celebrate creativity and cultural heritage while supporting emerging artists. Smith stated, “Cape Town prides itself as a city for creatives and culture with an abundance of talent in the sector. Our partnership with the Cape Town Art Fair is premised on providing developmental opportunities for those creatives, supporting emerging artists, and contributing to the growth of the broader creative industries.”

Highlighting the positive impact of the event on the local economy over the past 11 years, Smith affirmed the City’s enthusiasm for continuing the partnership in 2024. The collaboration extends to the City’s Arts and Culture Emerging Artist Programme, providing young artists with the opportunity to showcase their work at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair. Additionally, they will have the chance to network with industry experts, gain insights into the business side of the art world, and access resources to advance their careers in the sector.
